Especially when there is almost no communication and all emotions - anger or resentment - are concentrated and accumulated somewhere, in one person’s heart.

Inability to speak causes a very big personal crisis and catastrophe, which later is revealed in various ways and, unfortunately, a person sometimes deliberately, sometimes unconsciously goes to self-destruction in such cases. His life becomes one big disappointment, which he cannot return to its previous form. The way out is exactly what we all know well - conversation. Talking until the way appears.

“Narrow View” (2024), a student film by Elene Sheklashvili, tells us about a fading relationship between siblings crossing the hair bridge. The main character - the older sister, who unhands her healthy rhythm of life and loses it, because she has lost her main significance - it doesn't matter from now on where she will be and what she will do, that's why she works in a bar and drinks a lot. There is always a mess in her house, which has become the embodiment of her inner world. She spends her days aimlessly before going to work, as if trying to replenish her energy, before she wastes her own resources again pointlessly on herself. Keto is often silent and there is always sadness in her eyes, although it seems that she is not going to change anything. She has neither the strength to do this nor the desire to find this strength.

Just on such a morning, there is a knock on her door and suddenly Keto's brother enters the shot. It is impossible to say that she has a warm attitude towards her brother, because we only understand how Keto wants to be left alone again - she tells his brother to leave, that no one invited him, and he, on the contrary, decided to take Keto "to a great place" and, despite the argument, they soon find themselves on the road.

They go somewhere far away, the situation becomes increasingly incomprehensible and questions arise - where, why and what happened? Along the way, we learn not only that Keto does not contact her parents and is completely cut off from them, but also what is the reason for this - a physical injury that happened by accident and was caused by her brother and his thoughtless step. It is precisely because of this that Keto lost her dream - the opportunity to play football.

The film clearly shows that this incident does not give anyone peace. This story haunts both of them like a ghost and they cannot forget it, because the trauma not only took away Keto's dream, but also her brother, and her brother's thoughtless behavior not only shattered Keto's life, but also left her in eternal guilt with her own family. In a word, everything becomes even more difficult and goes further, because the situation cannot be corrected and the only clear solution is forgiveness and reconciliation, that is, to again embark on that human path that will bring a different, new happiness in life.

And here comes the moment of the expected argument. Even though both are adults, there is still that childish mood between them, which causes so much excessive emotion in their communication, and this approach of the director is very pleasing since their archetypes correspond very well to the existing reality and real feelings. It is also worth noting that to evoke childhood melancholy, the director introduces secondary actors into the shot, who “play” the past of the main characters in a certain section.

Dawn is breaking and they play football. They play and laugh. And fortunately, happiness returns. Then they set off together, the road home or to the great peaks. They go happy, filled with long-awaited joy.

As in other films by the same director, here too we encounter her characteristic stylistic elements - large and deserted meadows, average views and bright colors. Each of them fits well into the environment in which Elene Sheklashvili lives her characters, because the intersection of these worlds is very contrasting with the environment.

As in other films by the same director, here too we encounter her characteristic stylistic elements - large and deserted meadows, average views and bright colors.
